As Councilwoman, Julie would be proud to represent Roosevelt Island, one of New York’s most vibrant and distinctive communities.
Julie has extensive experience supporting the needs of waterfront communities with her past work as a board member of Governors Island and a leader in the $165 million renovation of the East River Waterfront Esplanade. This experience positions Julie to understand the unique issues Roosevelt Islanders face and work tirelessly to address them in the Council.
Julie supports the creation of a permanent credit union on the Island to address the Island’s banking needs following the closure of Amalgamated Bank. Expanding transportation options to and from the Island would be a priority for Julie. She would push for increased tram and ferry options to prioritize the transportation needs of Roosevelt Islanders.
Julie believes storm resilience and shoreline conservation are pressing issues facing the Island and supports increased funding to restore and modernize the waterfront. Finally, Julie supports the Haki Compost Collective in their effort to enhance the sustainability of the Island’s sanitation system.
