Public Safety

We must restore both the reality and the perception of public safety on our streets, in our schools, and on our mass transit system. We are also in a unique time when hate crimes continue to surge, especially targeting minority groups and those vulnerable to violent attacks. Julie has prioritized public safety since taking office and is proud of some of the important safety improvements she has championed:

Funding new NYPD security cameras on the East Side.

Hosting town halls with state and local law enforcement to curb the rise in antisemitism and other hate crimes across the city

Using the Council’s community safety initiative to support domestic violence awareness and prevention organizations

Serving on the Small Business Alliance to bring together law enforcement authorities and small business owners to combat retail theft 

Advocating for and securing an expansion of NYPD foot patrols in our commercial corridors

Julie will continue working hard to keep our community safe and maintain her robust partnership with the local NYPD Precincts she represents.
